Prospector's Reward

“Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures,” Proverbs 2:4.

What are some of the things you perceive as valuable? The list is vast I know. There are many wonderful things in this life that we might desire to have. The reality is, there are hindrances that keep the majority of people from achieving success in accumulating valuable assets. Some of these hindrances are; lack of education and motivation, laziness, poverty, poor health, mental & physical disabilities, and the list goes on….. Do you know that Jesus has made it possible for us to prosper and obtain the desires of our hearts? (Psalms 37:3-4). He who knew no sin, became a sin offering, so that we would be made righteous (2Cor. 5:21). Righteousness is a free gift and it is by His Grace we are saved (Eph. 2:8). When we surrender our lives to Jesus and confess Him as Lord we receive forgiveness for our sins, and then justified, which places us in right standing with God (Titus 3:4-7). Our Salvation then positions us to receive every Good and Perfect Gift from The Father of Lights (James 1:17).

Prior to salvation we were destined for the wrath of God (Eph. 1:18), cursed and disconnected from our Life Source. “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them,” Eph. 2:1-10. Wow, what an exchange! I was once cursed, dysfunctional and incapacitated to save myself and not able to live up to the full expectation of what I was originally designed to do. But everything changed when I discovered in The Word of God all that I am in Christ. From the foundation of the Earth I was predestined for glory and fearfully wonderfully made to do exploits for Him. It is all because of Jesus Christ and His finished work that I have the potential to be whole in order to fulfill my destiny (Ps. 8, 139, Is. 53: 5, 2Cor. 5:17). But do you know there are many who minimize what Christ has Maximized for every believer? Some might say how can this be? By not pursuing the rich treasures that are in Christ Jesus (Col. 2:3).  Everything that pertains to True Life is in Christ Jesus. Jesus is The Light of men (John. 1:4).

My life has been dramatically transformed by the Power of The Cross (Jesus finished work). Looking back over my 23 years of drug enslavement I could only envision a life as a thief, liar and drug addict. I was hopeless, depressed and mentally tormented (seven secular re-habs & one mental hospital). I had no future of a productive life. But everything changed when I reached that place of desperateness. I wanted to live and not die. I cried out to God to save me from myself. In brokenness He revealed to me that He had a wonderful plan for my life. When I accepted His invitation to be born again, it was like the Heavens opened and revelation of who Jesus is filled my heart and I have never been the same. He then invited me on a journey to discover what I was designed to do for His Glory. I soon discovered it is The Holy Spirit who reveals The Word of God and superintends my walk. As I yield to His direction He orchestrates a life of Faith that rewards my diligence (Heb. 11:6).

I have discovered that The Word of God is a rich Treasure Field that rewards its Prospector (*one who searches for silver & gold). The Word of God is not mere words written on paper, but Spirit and it gives Life (Jn. 6:63). Jesus said “For the Bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world," John 6:33.  The Word of God uses metaphors, analogies and symbolisms to preach realities of the nature of Jesus. So when Jesus says in John Chapter 6 “I am the Bread of Life and he who eats My Body and drinks My Blood has eternal Life,” He is using these different expressions to illustrate that His whole Being is Sustenance for what we need for life. As one becomes a disciple (a follower of Christ) we open ourselves to be conduits in which His Life flows through us to bring Salvation to the sinner (John 15:26). The provisions for our assignment in life is His “Banquet Table” (Bread-Word of God & Wine-Holy Spirit). This is why the writer of Hebrews 2:3 says, “Do not neglect this great Salvation.” An awesome sum has been payed so that our bodies become a dwelling place for God by His Spirit (1Cor. 6:19-20).

The Apostle Paul inspired by The Holy Spirit wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:7, “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” This “Great Treasure” is The Holy Spirit who reveals Jesus Christ to us. Our responsibility is to appropriate all that He has revealed, we then become recipients  of all these great and precious promises that brings prosperity to every area of our lives (2Pet. 1:4, Isaiah 55:10-11). “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward,” Psalms 19:7-10. Are you a “Prospector?”
