SHILOH MESSENGER - May 2026

Captivated or Captive?

HEAR- there’s a summons coming forth in this hour- not to crowds, but to hearts. The Lord is saying, “Come away to a place of intimacy-not shallow devotion, but holy communion, where the heart is lit a flame & transformed. To be drawn out of the shallows is to go to the deep. To be summoned to deeper intimacy with Jesus will always present a line that must be crossed. This line divides through our hearts, homes, & hidden places. It’s not merely a line between good & evil, but between two affections: to be captive to the world, or captivated by Jesus.

Do not love the world or the things in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, & the pride of life is not of the Father. 1 John 2:15-16

SEE- many are bound, yet unaware- captive to distraction, to fear, to striving, to the subtle pull of lesser loves. Captive to noise that drowns out the breath sounds of God’s Holy Spirit.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18

God is inviting us: not merely to be free from captivity- but to be captivated. Captivated by His beauty, His voice, & His presence. One thing I desire of the Lord, that will I seek, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord… to behold the beauty of the Lord. Psalm 27:4

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. Psalm 42:1

This is not passive desire. This is pursuit. The Lord is drawing a remnant out of distraction & into fascination with His glory. He is restoring first love- not as a concept, but as an all-consuming fire, I have this against you, that you have left your first love… repent & do the first works. Revelation 2:4-5

Return to the place where His presence was priority. Return to the secret place where affection was pure, where time was forgotten, where His Word burned with in you.

Set me as a seal upon your heart… for love is as strong as death. Song of Songs 8:6

To be captivated by God is to be marked by Him- to carry His fragrance, His thoughts, His fire. It is to live aware that you are His, & He is yours.

I am my Beloved’s, & my Beloved is mine. Song of Songs 6:3

This is the great exchange as you behold Him, you become like Him. As you draw near, every lesser chain falls away.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:17

Freedom is not found in distance-it is found in closeness. HEAR- what captivates you will shape you. What holds your gaze will form your life. The Lord is inviting you to fix your eyes again- not on the world, hardships, fast blowing winds, changing minds of others-but on HIM!

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2

So the question Jesus is asking today remains- Are you captive, bound by what cannot satisfy? Or are you captivated, undone by The One who is all together lovely?

Those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces are not ashamed. Psalm 34:5

This is the hour to choose fascination over distraction. Presence over pressure. Intimacy over indifference. Come out of captivity. Step into salvation. He is not just calling you free- He is calling you close.

Prayer: “Lord Jesus, will you compel us to SEE & HEAR how to navigate the time is that is come- may we no longer be content with surface encounters. Will You assist in embracing The Spirit of awakening to a deep hunger- a longing that cannot be satisfied by anything but God. In Jesus’ name.”
