There's More! Come Deeper Still! For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of one who waits for Him, Isaiah 64:4 There’s a resounding echo in the atmosphere. If you listen, you will hear it. Through all of history up to today, especially at such a time as now, God’s voice speaks, “Come deeper!” It’s not a call for more activity, but to more intimacy. God is not calling us to surface faith. NO! His character and nature will not allow us to remain in the shallows when there’s more! So much more!! By His omniscient power, He is using sounds of many waters to woo us into the depths where transformation happens. Listen… “Deep calls to deep at the roar of Your waterfalls: all Your waves and breakers have swept over me.” Psalm 42:7 To go deeper will require a measure of discomfort, because depth dismantles what is familiar. Yet we have a good and loving Father who causes all things to work together for our good, and in His perfect timing, brings true comfort. Because of who He is we can trust Him to lead us deeper still knowing He is not primarily concerned with preserving our comfort, but with transforming the condition of our soul for His glory and our becoming. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters; Romans 8:28,29 Going deeper removes us from the shoreline of what feels safe, the shallows of comfort, and out into waters where trust replaces control. “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Luke5:4 Peter had fished all night. He was tired, experienced, and frustrated. Yet obedience at depth produced abundance he’d never seen before. Depth is where revelation meets surrender. Christ must be formed in us. Going deeper still, is The Way. “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you.” Galatians 4:19 These depths are where fire flows from. There. is where hearts burn from the places of intimacy and mouths overflow with testimony. “We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:20 To go deeper means letting God touch places we have guarded, heal wounds we have learned to manage, and confront sins we have excused. “Search me O God and know my heart.” Psalm 139:23 God’s Holy Spirit is gentle, but the call is urgent. Time is short, hearts are hungry, and the world is waiting for a church that knows God-not just about Him. Come deeper. Not for more knowledge-but for more of Him. Not to escape the world but to be sent into it changed. The depth you enter today will determine the fruit you carry tomorrow.
