The Bountiful Bliss of Basking

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

You probably have sat in the sun and enjoyed the warmth and comfort of the sun beaming upon you on a nice sunshiny fair weathered day. Basking means lingering, enjoy, and to take in warmth, and comfort. Basking in God means to take intense pleasure and satisfaction in God’s presence, love & Amazing Grace. It implies a deep sense of joy, comfort, and spiritual warmth that is bountiful as we savor His presence. Basking in God’s Presence is an intentional move on our part where we draw near to Him to get close to Him. “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8. It is purposeful for Intimacy, Worship, Gratitude, Inventory, Repentance, & being freshly filled with Holy Spirt for discernment, motivation, wisdom, revelation, and molding us more into HIS Image. He keeps us in plumb & adorns us for every assignment in which He has ordained.

Basking is not for those that only come occasionally. Basking is for the passionate heart that longs to be near The Lord. Basking is not for those who are fleeting but for those who will invest in lingering in His presence. Basking does not apply for the one minute with God devotionals that we see far too often in stores on bookshelves. Basking is for those that are intentional to Draw unto Him and give quality uninterrupted time with Him. It has to be intentional. It has to be sincerely important and of great priority to those who are grateful for their redemption and truly have an ongoing love relationship with The Lord.

Bountiful is defined as abundance, & generous in bestowing gifts or favor. Bountiful is a large quantity or supply. Bountiful describes the infinite nature of God and His ability to meet all of His people’s needs and desires which He has impressed upon their hearts. He is the Bread of life, abundantly sustaining His people forever. He is an overflowing Spring of Life that never runs dry, always more than enough to quench every thirst we have. There is an invitation to come. He tells us in His word, “I will give you drink from the river of delights.” Psalm 36:8-10. The more we know Him, the more we long to know Him.
We are either drawing or we are drifting. Drifting is a very dangerous place to be. This present culture in which we live will grab our souls, (mind, will, & emotions) if we do not live circumspectly. The distractions, noise, and influences of this age will bid us to invest our time, energy, finance, and resources into the popularity of this evil generation and even convince us it is alright. Yet the passionate follower of Christ knows they must bask with The Lover of their soul and host His presence every day, Priority. He fuels us for the remainder of the day. He governs our souls on every decision. We cannot afford to be casual or negligent in intentional meetings one on one with Him. It is through the basking that we embrace ‘Be still and know that I Am God.” (Psalm46:10). The priceless times of Selah are when we get to know Him more and truly trust Him with every aspect of our lives. The deeper intimate levels with Him are reserved for those who pursue & invest.

After this sacred intentional meeting of drawing near to God, we are then empowered to go about diligently with the responsibilities of the day truly representing Him well. We get to experience a level of Grace & peace that only He gives. We are blessed to continue to have on-going dialogue with Him and hear Him as He guides us step by step. We truly get to do exploits with Him. Daniel 11:32b.

Father God, Thank You that you first loved us & You captured our heart. Help us Holy Spirit to Host well Your presence & to develop in basking. May we be intentional in our private sacred meeting place with You. Thank You that You reveal more of Yourself to us through Your Word & Your presence. Help us to carry our meeting on as we continue dialogue with You through the day, & as we take care of our assignments & responsibilities. We are grateful to Lord for redeeming us & allowing us the gift of Knowing You, loving You, & enjoying Your presence. Lord Jesus, Thank You for the fellowship, & bountiful bliss of basking in Your Presence.
