EPH. 1:18 "I pray the eyes of your
understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the
hope of His culling, what are the riches of the glory of His
inheritance in the saint".
The LORD has been so good to me. I think back to where I was
when I cried out to Him for mercy because of my spiritual demise,
I was blinded by the lie that there was no hope for me. I was
living below the "High Quality Life" that Jesus Christ
purchased for me. It was only when the LORD became "Lover"
of my soul by applying the truth of Gods word by faith that I
received my spiritual eyes (revelation); "to see the
unseen".
2 Kings 6:17 has a perfect illustration of the unseen realm
in which the "Armies of Heaven" are poised for battle
for those who "fear the LORD". "And Elisha prayed,
and said, 'LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.' Then the
LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold,
the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around
Elisha".
HOW DO I OBTAIN SPIRITUAL EYES? INTAMACY AND OBEIDIENCE.
Moses was a good example of a person who developed intimacy
with God because he was teachable and obedient in his God given
assignment to Shepherd the people of God. Ex 39:13 "If you
are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and
continue to find favor with you". It is through the
knowledge of knowing Him that great Grace will be upon your
life to do exploits; Dan 11:32 "but the people who know
their God skull be strong, and carry out great exploits".
The LORD did not redeem us so we would become like the world. The
LORD Jesus Christ shed his precious blood to sanctify us and to
equip us for our God given destinies.
Heb 13:12 "that He might sanctify the people with His
own blood". What is sanctification? It means to be set
apart. In the Old Testament we read about an event that was used
by God to "open the eyes" of the Hebrews so they would
understand how they viewed Him. Moses was chosen to lead the
Congregation of Israel out of Egypt and into their Divine
destinies. Along the way they encountered many life threatening
situations. It was in these situations that God showed His saving
power (Pharaoh's army drowned in the Red Sea) and His provisions
(Manna from heaven, shoes and clothes that did not wear out), and
oh, let's not forget the Protection from the elements (Cloud at
day that protected them from the desert heat and Fire at night
to protect them from the desert cold). Through all the Divine
interventions their hearts were still not convinced of God's
great "Love and Mighty Power" for His people.
It was separation time. He was about to take His people into
the Promised Land (their inheritance) as He promised Abram 645
years earlier. Gem 15:18 "On that day the LORD made a
covenant with Abram and said, 'To your descendant I give this
land". God was on His timetable to get the Messiah
(the Anointed One, Savior of the world) on to the scene. So
relationships could be restored with His sons and daughters.
This is the event God used to expose and separate the murmurers
and complainers from the Congregation. The Lord spoke to Moses
saying in Num 13:2 "Send men to spy out the land of Canaan,
which I am giving to the children of Israel; from each tribe of
their fathers, you shall send a man, every one a leader among
them."
When the 12 Spies returned from their mission 10 gave a
negative report but two having "Spiritual Eyes", gave
the "right" report. Num 13:27-33 "We vent to the
land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and
this is its fruit. Nevertheless, the people who dwell in the
land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large. Then
Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, 'Let us go up
at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome
it.' However, the men who had gone up with him said, 'We are
not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger
than we. There we saw the giant; and we were like grasshoppers
in our own sight, and so we were in their sight." One can
only imagine how the people could have developed a grasshopper
mentality, after all God had done for His people?
Psalm 78:40-4l says; "How often they provoked Him in the
wilderness, and grieved Him in the desert! Yes, again and again
they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel".
Spiritual eyes require faith. Unbelief will never see beyond the
difficulties. Unbelief sees "walled cities and giants"
rather than the presence and power of God. Unbelief looks at
obstacles; faith looks at God. Because of the faith of Joshua
and Caleb they received their Inheritance which was the
"Promised Land". The others forfeited their inheritance
because of doubt and unbelief. God has a destiny for those with
"Spiritual Eyes" of faith.
God called me out of my Egypt (place of bondage) in 1991 and
I never looked back. I knew He had called me to "Possess
the Land" that He was taking me into. Josh 1:3 says;
"Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I
have given you". There is no way that I could have taken
hold of my destiny unless I was willing and obedient. Isaiah 1:19
says; "If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the
good of the land".
God called me to be a shepherd to those without any hope and
without any vision and purpose in life. I have a favorite quote
that I found; "a man without a vision is a man without a
future, and a man without a future will always return to his
past". If you do not have spiritual eyes, then of course
you will be spiritually blind. I made a choice to give God full
access to my life. When I did I became a man that is blessed
(pleasure and power of increase). I have a wonderful wife; my
helpmate who left her family in South Carolina to fulfill her
destiny as a wife and ministry partner. I have spiritual sons
who I love and require discipline in excellence. I truly am a
blessed man. God wants to do the same for you. Are you seeing
with spiritual eyes? Do you know what the future holds for you?
It is not for selfish pleasure. It is a life dedicated to God
for His purpose. God knows what is most excellent for us. We
will never experience this until we surrender all to Him.
