The Reality of our Position in Jesus Christ

“Even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,” Ephesians 2:5-6.

John G. Lake 1870-1935.
Born in Canada, John G. Lake’s family relocated to the United States where he grew up to be a successful businessman in Zion City, Illinois. Lake first heard the Gospel preached at a Salvation Army meeting when he was sixteen and soon after surrendered his life to The Lord. Though he had lived a morally pure life, his heart was in turmoil until he asked The Lord to save him. Speaking of his encounter Lake wrote, “I made my surrender to HIM. The Light of Heaven broke into my soul, and I arose from my knees a Son of God, and I knew it.”

As a Youth, Lake was very interested in the art of Science and Physics. He was meticulous in his research both in Science and in Spiritual Matters. He tirelessly investigated The Bible with an eye not only to understand it, but also to prove its accuracy in everyday life. As a result, Lake walked, talked and breathed in the flow of God’s resurrection life. When he was twenty years old, a Christian Farmer taught him about sanctification. The revelation pierced his heart and was solemnly regarded as the crowning work of God in his life. Of this Lake said, “I shall never cease to Praise God that HE revealed to me the depth of The Power of The Blood Of JESUS., A beautiful Anointing of THE SPIRIT was on my life.” In his later years, Lake enjoyed a wonderful balance of the Supernatural and Natural. He called every believer to the power of Pentecost. Once in doing so, he spoke this prophecy, “I can see as my spirit discerns the future and reaches out to touch the heart of mankind and the desire of God, that there is coming from Heaven a new manifestation of The Holy Spirit in power, and that new manifestation will be in a sweetness, in love, in tenderness, and in the power of The Spirit, beyond anything your heart or mine ever saw. The very lightening of God will flash through men’s souls. The Sons of God will meet the sons of darkness and prevail.”

One day after praying for a man who suffered from a ten inch fever sore, John G. Lake received a telegram that read, “Lake, the most unusual thing has happened, An hour after you left, the whole print of your hand was burned into the growth that was a quarter of an inch deep.” Lake would later refer to such power in his sermons as the lightnings of JESUS. “You talk about the voltage from Heaven and the power of GOD! Why there is lightning in the soul of JESUS! The lightnings of JESUS heal men by their flash! Sin dissolves and disease flees when the power of GOD approaches!” Lake would also compare the anointing of God’s Spirit to the power of Electricity. Just as men learned the laws of electricity, Lake had discovered the laws of The Spirit, and as God’s “Lightning Rod,” By 1924, Lake was known throughout America as a leading healing evangelist. He had established 40 Churches throughout the United States and Canada. Lake died on September 16th 1935 at the age of 65. He left the legacy that if we would just grasp the reality of our position through JESUS CHRIST, every Nation would ring with the Praises of God.

Before obeying the call into full-time ministry, Lake felt the need to dispose of his very successful business interests. He sold everything, giving the money to God’s work, and embarked on full– time ministry with a heart full of the fire of God. Soon afterward, when he was ministering in a city in Northern Illinois, God spoke to him clearly and distinctly, “ Go to Indianapolis. Prepare for Winter Campaign. Get a large hall. In the Spring you will go to Africa.” In April 1908, Lake and his family left for South Africa. Though they had no visible means of support, they were miraculously provided for every step of the way. And thus began a tremendous Revival, with mighty healings, miracles, and deliverances, which was to profoundly impact the African Continent for years to come, even long after Lake was gone. In 1913 after the tragic death of his wife, Lake returned to America, but by this time the torch had also been passed on to Elias Letwaba and others in Africa, and the work went on there in great power. Lake continued his ministry in North America until his death in 1935. He fought an outstanding fight and ran a great race, right to the very end. *** Parts of the Above Biography are shared from The Revival Study Bible.

God has poured out HIS Love on us from the very beginning. HE determined to share HIS Spiritual riches and Glory with us IN CHRIST. JESUS CHRIST stands at the very heart of God’s Plan. As we believe in HIM, HIS death sets us free. We can be forgiven. We can also share HIS new risen life. We are made one with HIM, Part of HIM. And IN HIM, We too are caught up in God’s Great Eternal plan as we live to HIS Glory. We truly have so much to be Thankful for IN CHRIST !!!!
