Leaning Against the Windowpane

Watch therefore for you know not what hour your LORD shall come.” Matthew 24:42

The Apostle Paul pours himself into and exhorts the believers in Ephesus through The Power of Holy Ghost with one of his prayers that he prayed for them through Ephesians 1:17, “I pray that you have wisdom and revelation to know JESUS better.”  This prayer remains a catalyst for those today that are seeking HIM and desiring more intimacy with HIM, that have tasted of HIM, and found that they must be in pursuit of more of HIM. One of the ways we get to know HIM better is through HIS Word, and what JESUS specifically taught, so therefore Reading and exploring Jesus’ Teachings is vital for us in our growth, obedience, and our getting to know HIM better. As we study the Gospels and we examine with Holy Spirit leading us into the richness of JESUS’ Words, we cannot help but be transformed in our minds, and our hearts are more in passionate pursuit of HIM.

JESUS taught many timeless Truths using Parables which are short stories that teach a moral and spiritual lesson with eternity in mind to show those who are hungered in their heart for Truth what The Kingdom of God is like, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is The Kingdom of Heaven” Matthew 5:3. For those whom had dullness of hearing as described in Matthew 13:15, and did not hunger in their heart to know THE TRUTH, HIS method of teaching would go right over their hearts and not settle there. “HE that hath ears let him hear what The Spirit of God is saying.” Matthew 11:15, Revelation 2:7; Mark 4:9, Revelation 2:29. As we look and study with desire to know some of HIS many Parables HE taught, we are amazed at the wisdom that is given to us and find that we see those very teachings in Parables unfolding before our very eyes in day in and day out situations which confront us to choose which we will lean into, HIS example of what The Kingdom is like, or be patterned after satan the god of this world and his deceptive rule.

If you read and study JESUS, be ready to be challenged and changed into HIS image, for we cannot keep going on with JESUS and not be changed. Recently as we looked into HIS Word regarding HIS teachings in Matthew 24 and 25, it has caused some deep soul searching as JESUS with amplified voice speaks to us in the depths of our spirit through The Power of Holy Ghost and says to us such things as “And The Love of many will wax cold, and even the elect may be deceived, and the 5 foolish had no oil, and many will be offended, and lawlessness will abound, and Two men will be in the field and one taken and the other left, and there will be famines, earthquakes, and pestilences in various places.” Wow, some very sobering thoughts as we take a look at what HE describes will be happening before HIS Return and then HE says, “KEEP WATCH, for you know not what hour, for The Son of Man is coming at an hour you least expect.”  Matthew 24:44.

While pondering upon HIS teachings that catapult us into Heart Investigatory thoughts, I came upon this testimony that moved me profoundly and it is why the title of this Newsletter is called Leaning against the Windowpane. I pray it challenges all of us and we invite HOLY SPIRIT to put HIS search light upon the Windows of each room of our Heart, and that we yield to HIM in growth and intimacy, and in the way of pure love, discerning which is the highest and best.

One afternoon Dr. Joseph Stowell, Moody Bible Institute’s President was visiting a home for mentally handicapped children, and He noticed many beautiful expressions of how these children were learning to love The Lord. One particular expression was the focus of his attention as he discovered on a nearby window pane many tiny hand prints that decorated the glass. He asked a friend who worked there about it and His friend said, “Oh those, The Children here love JESUS passionately, and they are so eager for HIM to return that they lean against the window as they look up to the sky.” Dr. Stowell was touched and changed to realize he, too, must wait with anticipation for The Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In reading this testimony and seeing it played out in our minds, it challenges us on what kind of anticipation is in our heart for The Lord Jesus and HIS return. It is so easy to fall into a daily routine almost forgetting what we have been promised in Matthew: Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. So we are to be ready, Staying Alert, Allowing Holy Spirit to fill our lamp everyday with fresh oil because The Son of Man will come at an hour you and I do not expect. May the windows of our heart be full of hand prints watching and waiting for the return of our Lord, Savior, Redeemer, and Soon Coming Bridegroom King, and May we be as the 5 Wise who had oil in their lamps. Selah
