SHILOH MESSENGER -September 2015

“Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense,” Song of Solomon 4:6.

Once we realize that it is safer to go with HIM wherever HE may be going than to stay behind in what we may perceive to be a safe and comfortable environment, it is then that a maturity emerges and a tenacious steadfastness is set within us. Growth occurs each time we deny our flesh, saying Yes to Christ, for it is then that our longing escalates to be with HIM more so than anything the flesh attempts to entice us with. Oh The Power, which is that Supernatural Grace power that we are endowed with by Holy Spirit upon our declaration and the commitment of the resolve of our…..  I WILL GO; furthermore this commitment is foundational for spiritual maturity, for HE always bids us to come with HIM, and there is always seasons of new challenges of greater heights for our growth.

This passage of scripture from Song of Solomon unfolds after a season when The Maiden refused to go with her King upon HIS invitation to the Mountains. She however discovered it is far better to go with HIM and do exploits alongside HIM in uncharted territory from her perspective, than is to stay behind and miss HIS tangible Presence which nothing or no one can fill. She has discovered that she is indeed Love Sick for her Bridegroom King and makes this declaration, “until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh and the hill of frankincense.” There is revelation in this passage that lets us know this is far more than a 24 hour period she is speaking of, but yet that final dawn in which there will be no more darkness, for there will  be no more night. Revelation 22:5

She is now resolved to go to the mountain of myrrh which is symbolic of death to her flesh, as myrrh is an expensive costly fragrant ancient burial spice and was given as a Prophetic gift to Jesus by The Wise Men while He was a baby. This gift of myrrh was a decree symbolically saying, You have been born to die.  Her statement of, “I will go my way” is actually now HIS way for she has died to her way of doing things and taken hold of a far more surpassing life that comes forth by death. “I am crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me and this life I now live, I live by Faith in The Son of God who loves me and gave His life for me. “ Galatians 2:20. “Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed, but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24. She has indeed taken hold of the cost that is involved when we say no to our fleshly agendas and Yes to Jesus wherever HE may lead, and this costly fragrant myrrh is a pleasing aroma to HIM bearing fruit. Jesus ascended to the mountain of Myrrh in HIS own life when HE went to the cross and HE tells us in Luke 9:26 to take up our cross and follow HIM.

Frankincense represents Intercession, that standing in the gap for, and our pleading on behalf of another. Jesus is our High Priest and lives to make Intercession for us. When we follow HIM and trail the hill of Frankincense we pattern ourselves after Him by Interceding on behalf of others. We no longer pray only for ourselves and our families, but our Prayer life is enlarged to include others. She now not only says I WILL GO, but in her dying to self, she is determined, for she has an enlarged heart to bring others with her as well. This was her request in Song of Solomon 1:4, “Draw me, and we will come running after You.” When we are close to HIM, drawn to Him, we will always bring others with us.

Our development In Christ blossoms when we see HIS Love and affirmation for us, for this revelation of HIS Love gives us the power to say yes to this Mountain and hill Climbing with HIM, because perfect Love cast out fear, and we indeed get to a place of no longer seeking only what Jesus can do for us, but how we may give back to HIM, HIS rightful Inheritance, with a fiery desire to lavish our voluntary love back on Him. This particular passage is meant to get us into alignment with the First and Greatest commandment, Matthew 22:37. “You shall Love The Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.” It is aimed at stirring our hearts to follow HIM wholeheartedly, standing firmly committed to HIM no matter the difficulty, and selflessly giving our lives to HIS Kingdom Advancement, along with Intercession for many others to know HIM deeply and intimately until that final day breaks and the shadows flee away.
