SHILOH MESSENGER - November 2012

A Thanksgiving Perspective

“That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, And tell of all Your wondrous works,” Psalms 26:7.

Well, it’s time for the Holidays again. Most of us will be busy with the preparation of what I consider the best time of the year. It is such an awesome time of the year to give thanks, because of the goodness of our Lord. Deb & I have experienced His faithfulness in our life and ministry. I believe the experience of encounters with the Lord has produced an awareness of His commitment for an excellent outcome for us. We are convinced that we are on a glorious journey that was predestined for us, by the Lord. We were created to live a fulfilled life by the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer to assist in bringing about a fruitful life and a glorious assignment. The Holy Spirit also blesses our life so we can be conformed to the “image of His Son” (Rom. 8:29). Many strive to become something they were not designed to become. He created us to represent Him as Kingdom sons & daughters in excellence and glory. Romans 9:23 “and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory”.  In this promise, we should meditate and respond with much thanksgiving to our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

I believe we are on a prophetic time clock that is drawing us closer to the catching away of the Church. We have to be in sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit. He is the One who reveals that we are the Bride of Christ and soon will be attending a marriage supper.  “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!' " And he said to me, "These are the true sayings of God" (Revelation 19:7-9). If we are distracted by the world and  its cares we could miss the invitation to the marriage supper and the coming of the Bridegroom (Matt. 25:1-13).  That will never happen to those who have intimacy with the Lord.

Even though we are secure in Christ and celebrate His goodness, there are those who are not. The whole election process this year has produced fear and anxieties about our economy . My observation is that as a Nation we have sold our Godly heritage for the comfort of the dollar. I believe in the eyes of God it is the same as prostitution. We have sold our God given moral values for the love of money. In this past election, the dominate motivator for getting a vote by the Candidates for President was the economy. There was no discussion about how to fix the dysfunctional family that causes divorce. No one talked about the violence in our Nations streets that has reduced the value of a  human life to a pair of  Nike shoes.  We have had a total breakdown in our priorities. We have to return to God as a Nation, so we can be healed (2 Chron. 7:14).

I am reminded daily about our godly forefathers who founded this country. How they sacrificed everything to have a government that worshiped God openly. How they considered other generations that would come and desired them to know that only God can keep a Nation protected and prosperous. This is the very reason most all government buildings are memorials that testify with inscriptions that “we are a Nation that worships God.” Now demonically inspired individuals our conspiring to wipe off the inscriptions that God is “Revered and He is Supreme,” over our Nation. Our response to this seduction, as a Church should be an awakening with repentance. We have to humble ourselves and cry out to God, “we have sinned and brought about this great calamity of events! (Jer. 44:23) Have mercy on us God, forgive us for we have allowed the enemy to seduce us into believing that money satisfies everything. Only You can satisfy us, for You are the Fountain that satisfies and brings life to our barren land.”

During this upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas celebration, along with all the days of our life, let them be consecrated (dedicated, sacred) unto Him. Our very existence as a family and a Nation of believers depend upon our dedication and love for God. We no longer can neglect such a great salvation (Heb. 2:3). Our day should begin with, “Good morning Lord, I love You and I give You this day. Please help me to steward it well”.  We then should ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the Word of God, as we open It to discover It’s vast Storehouse of Treasures. Let us become like prospectors mining for gold. For in it will we will find the wisdom of God which is more precious than silver and gold.  “All the words of my mouth are with righteousness; Nothing crooked or perverse is in them. They are all plain to him who understands, And right to those who find knowledge. Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold;  For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her,” Proverbs 8:8-11. Last but not least let us become a company of Intercessory Prayer Warriors who will stand up and contend with our adversary and remind him of his defeat. We stand in a place of humility with Authority given to us by the “Captain of our Salvation” (Heb. 2:10). We fight  from a “victory all ready won, not to a victory” (Colossians 2:15). It is in this great victory that has been won we take our stand and in the name of Jesus we command the enemy to bow and worship the Lord,” (Matt. 4:10).
Happy Thanksgiving!
