Weapons of Mass Destruction

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,” 2Corinthians 10:4.

When inquiring from The Holy Spirit what was to be the exhortation for this month’s Newsletter, I heard this in my spirit man in a profound way, “Weapons of Mass Destruction.” This title indeed has my interest because, number one HE brought it to my attention and number 2 because there is a whole lot of heightened spiritual warfare going on every day on this side of eternity (Ephesians 5:16-17). Let us face it, we are all in a war whether we want to be or not, and the best side to be on is the winning side, the righteous side. The Apostle Paul as well as The Apostle Peter were no novices in spiritual warfare. Both knew how to successfully engage the enemy and take spoils from the battles. 2Corinthians 10:4-6 is a familiar passage even for those walking with The Lord for a short season and even more so if you are a seasoned warrior in HIS WORD. When pondering this title I was drawn to think on a natural military explanation of these words. If ever there was a natural reality to these words it is the day and the hour in which we live. We hear much on a day by day basis regarding war, bombings, terrorist attacks, and weapons that have been and or in process of being constructed for the sole purpose of alienation of mankind. Weapons of Mass destruction in the natural is military terminology that is describing tools having the capabilities of destroying large sums of individuals with an initial strike whether this is solids, gasses, or radioactive materials. A weapon of Mass Destruction in the spiritual realm is always for Good and not for evil, fighting from a victory that has already been won against the forces of darkness, bringing Glory to God, and the gathering of Jesus’ Inheritance through advancing HIS Kingdom. (Ephesians 6:12-13) The Church is in Spiritual Warfare with the battle engaged fiercely between the kingdom of darkness and the Army of God, therefore we are not to be deceived for there is no demilitarized zone. Peter exhorts us in his second epistle to make every effort to confirm or say yes to HIM by our day by day living out this Christ-like calling and election, and if we do we will be assured success (2 Peter 1:10). In order to glean what Peter is saying we must go upward a few verses as HE expounds on specific things we are to actively pursue, take hold of diligently and cooperate with HIM in proliferating our faith in an ongoing fashion. Having been assigned as an Apprentice of Jesus and having HIS Divine Nature within us, as we yield to HIM daily, we are guaranteed success and therefore not to be defeated in this heavy duty combat of spiritual warfare (2Peter 1:3-10). Peter writes to us through the inspiration of Holy Spirit and lets us know that we have been given everything through Jesus Christ that we need to fulfill our destinies. Jesus paid it in full at Calvary (2Peter 1:3, Eph. 2: 10). Therefore we are already qualified to be a Weapon of Mass Destruction against the Kingdom of darkness; however a weapon of mass destruction is only fulfilled in its purpose if it is therefore utilized to the purpose in which it was created by its Creator. We can have within us this Atomic Producing power, but left unutilized, it warrants no fulfillment of original design. Peter tells us that if we do not do The Math and Add to our Faith, then we are shortsighted and we forget why we have even been enlisted in the first place. He tells us to add and to add diligently or in other words using antonyms, DO NOT BE IDLE, INACTIVE, UNEMPLOYED, UNOCCUPIED, and DISTRACTED for this is dangerous when you are engaged in warfare (2 Timothy 2:4). In further explanation of what we are to add to our faith, we see moral excellence as one of the seven and is an attribute we must employ. What exactly is Moral Excellence? It is the quality of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong, integrity, virtue. A person of moral excellence can be counted on, will live the truth, and will tell the truth, they do not practice falsehood, lies or theft; they are trustworthy. They are a person who will not compromise God’s Word. There is no guile operating in them, their motives are pure. Peter also states we are to add Knowledge to our Faith, for God tells us that people perish for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). Knowledge is developed through intimacy with Holy Spirit, and the diligent study of God’s Word. Knowledge is understanding (Proverbs 9:10). Self-Control is listed & God’s Word expounds this virtue in Proverbs 25:28. Perseverance is indeed required if we are to be successful in warfare & quitting is not an option. Godliness is then stated in this vital list of Atomic Power, for you see godliness is our original design, we are made in The Godheads image, and this is one of Holy Spirit’s vital assignments in our lives. When we said yes to Jesus, Holy Spirit has been and is preparing us to be JESUS’ Bride, a Bride without spot, wrinkle or blemish. If we want to be truly Christ like we must spend time and quality time with Holy Spirit and yield to HIS working in our lives. Jesus and HIS likeness is portrayed in The Gospels, and Acts expounds on Jesus that HE went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with HIM. This too should be our desire and lifelong goal. Jesus said of HIMSELF, and also repeating what Isaiah said hundreds of years prior, “The Spirit of The Sovereign Lord is upon Me.” HE goes on explaining why HE came, HE is clear that HE came to connect us to The Father and to abolish the works of the devil. We too, as HIS Apprentices are to do likewise. We will never connect people to The Father and abolish the works of the devil without Holy Spirit Power operating in and through us (Acts 20:24). Brotherly Kindness makes the list and rightfully so. The Psalmist says in Psalm 133 that unity commands a blessing and any Army must be unified for success in war. The Word of God tells us to do good especially to The Household of Faith. It is urgent that we put away our divisions for A House Divided Cannot Stand. Love is the last virtue of Atomic Power that made the list used as a weapon of Mass Destruction but it is not least, for it holds all together. Love is the key ingredient for Jesus tells us that “We are to love The Lord our God with ALL our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all of our strength, and then HE said we are to love our neighbor as ourselves.” HE says ALL the commandments hang on these two. Our Faith which we are to attach all these seven virtues upon will not even operate without Love. Holy Spirit is THE ONLY ONE that can get us into actively producing Agape, The God kind of Love, therefore it is vital to spend quality time with Holy Spirit and yielding to HIS Work of sanctification in our lives. We have been created as a Weapon of Mass Destruction against the demonic powers of hell. Is that power that raised Jesus from the dead activated and being utilized in and through you?
