SHILOH MESSENGER - December 2015

 The Great Sacrifice

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29.

Before the writing of this month’s newsletter, I paused and asked the Lord what is on your Heart regarding the content for this months Newsletter? My thought is, this month is the time when Christians celebrate the birth of our Savior, King. But what is your thoughts Lord, on the birth of The Savior King? As I meditated, prayed and waited on the Holy Spirit, I felt impressed by The Lord to use John 1:29 as the reference verse. This verse resounds with prophecy fulfillment. John the Baptist is described by Jesus as the last and the greatest of the Old Testament Prophets (Matt. 11:11). In verse 29 of John 1, John is an Anointed Seer and see’s, the True Identity of the One who is the Sacrifice to take away humanities sin and destroy the fear of death, hell and the grave (1Cor. 15:51-57). Imagine the fear that gripped satan when he heard the prophets decree and then saw “The Lamb of God.” It only reminded him of his impending defeat that was pronounced by God.

Thousands of generations have passed since the first prophecy spoken by God Himself about The Seed of a woman that would strike the head of satan (“I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed. He will strike your head, and you will strike His heel.”) Gen. 3:15. Ever since the curse spoken by God to the devil, he has been observing how, when and where the Seed would come. All through The Old Testament we read and see through the Lens of the Holy Spirit, God using His Angels and The Holy Spirit working through Israel’s prophets, judges, priest and kings. God was moving in awesome signs and wonders thru yielded vessels, while we see satan using ideology to deceive and to demonize people groups (Egyptians, Moabites, Philistines, Amalekites & etc.….) to cut off the promise Seed.

How is it satan thought he could make war against his Creator and win?  Pride! (Is. 14:13-15). Pride always blinds and never lets one see their foolishness and the impending doom. It breeds jealousy and insist on being recognized and manifest rage when it cannot have its way, this always leads to destruction and fall! (Prov. 16:18). Satan is now confused and blinded by his pride and he continues his onslaught of stealing, robbing, mayhem and murder. But still he is only a delegated role player in Gods master plan to bring freedom to humanity through the birth of a Savior King (Matt. 2:2, Luke 2:30-32).

Some may ask why does God permit such evil by allowing satan to play a role in a Passion Drama (John 17, Heb. 12:2)? Could not God just thump satan with His finger and strike his head to kill him? Yes, He could, but it was Adam’s failure in obedience that caused the fall, it would take God (Jesus) becoming man, full of The Holy Spirit power (Acts 10:38), being obedient, to gain back what was lost by Adam. God’s love was expressed by giving man a free will. Love is demonstrated in freedom of choice, not control. Well we know what happened, Adam chose to believe the voice of a stranger in the garden and sin entered the earth. Satan gained it by deception in order to control the world (2Cor. 4:4). The prophecy of the Seed in Genesis 3:15 would bring the Second Adam, Jesus (1Cor. 15:47) to fulfill the Word that brings Salvation in order to restore man back to fellowship. Salvation could only come thru a sinless “Sacrifice” (Rom. 3:23-26, 2Cor. 5:21) becoming the propitiation (*atoning sacrifice) in order to redeem man (Rom. 3:25). What love expressed!

The Christmas story is more than a baby named Jesus being born in a manger in Bethlehem. It is the arrival of a Savior King whose passion is to see the Nations come under His Righteous Domain. In 1 John 5:19, the Apostle John writes that the whole world is under the sway (*demonic lullaby) of the evil one. If the whole world is under the control of a satanic influence, then the rulers of Nations are also seduced and blinded to hate what is right and love what is wrong. They then pass laws that inhibit righteousness from flourishing and persecute the Church. But the Lord laughs at their plans and warns them thru His prophetic Decree, “Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth! Serve the LORD with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling. Submit to God’s royal son, or he will become angry, and you will be destroyed in the midst of all your activities— for his anger flares up in an instant. But what joy for all who take refuge in him!” Psalms 2:10-12.

What amazing Love God has demonstrated to the world that He gave His One and only Son Jesus to redeem people from their sin and make them righteous (John 3:16, Rom. 3:22-25)! The world can only be made righteous by people who receive Jesus Christ by faith (Eph.2:8). Then, we who have received Him by faith are adopted into His family and called sons and daughters (Rom. 8:15). Oh, the wonderful and marvelous life that The Heavenly Father has destined us for!  “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him,” 1 Cor. 2:9. I believe The Holy Spirt desires to stir our affections more towards Jesus, not only at Christmas, but throughout our life here on earth.  If we will just yield more and more to the Holy Spirit, He will lead us to discover in The Word of God all that He has finished and finalized in Christ Jesus. He is the Gift that keeps on giving!  Have a Blessed Christmas everyone!
