The Surpassing Invitation

"Then he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit," John 20:22

When Holy Spirit invites us into a relationship, it surpasses any invitation we have ever known, and goes far beyond any that our mind can desire or comprehend. HE is such a giver. However, Holy Spirit is the most misunderstood, unrecognized, and neglected of The Godhead, even though HE is our starting point with HIS beckoning, brooding, initiated invitation to come, for no one can come to Jesus unless first The Holy Spirit draws (John 6:44).

Why is it that HE, HOLY SPIRIT, is one of the most controversial, among Christian Doctrines in The Body of Christ? Perhaps if the enemy cannot stop us from responding to HOLY SPIRIT and HIS initial invitation to surrender to Jesus, then he most certainly will attempt to keep us a weak Body with little power and affect to be a witness for The Glory of God. “My people perish for lack of knowledge,” Hosea 4:6.

Satan most assuredly uses confusion, pride, fear, disunity, and misunderstanding regarding HOLY SPIRIT and HIS ROLE within The Trinity. So therefore the more we learn and submit to The Work of Holy Spirit in our lives the more powerful our witness upon this earth will become. The enemy is out to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10).

Pentecost Sunday is observed this year on May 24, 2015 and signifies the descent of Holy Spirit upon the early Apostles and other followers of Jesus. The risen Christ told His Disciples to wait in Jerusalem until HE sent them what The Father had promised. HE was ushering in The Holy Spirit with power from on high to breathe upon them, and literally take up residence within them (Luke 24:49). Those early Apostles waited as Jesus had instructed and they received Holy Spirit Power to be a witness. This dunamis, miraculous Power of Holy Ghost gave them boldness in the midst of much persecution and their numbers advanced rapidly while turning the known world upside down.

This same dunamis power of Holy Ghost lives in each born again believer of Christ Jesus today, but the sad truth is many have become complacent, routine, and do not even acknowledge His Presence. His promptings have often been ignored, and HE has been grieved. Waiting has become uncomfortable, and Flesh has jumped in as to avoid any tenseness or embarrassment which is the epitome of pride and The Body suffers because HE so wants to bless us with HIS presence. (“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption,” Ephesians 4:30).

It does us good to review HIS functions and to allow HIM to have HIS way. HE can do more in one millisecond than we can do in a life time. We can trust in the arm of the flesh or The Strong Arm of God Almighty. “Not by might, nor by power, but by MY SPIRIT says THE LORD,” Zechariah 4:6.
HE Helps, guides, teaches, speaks, reveals, instructs, comforts, and testifies of Jesus. HE calls, fills, strengthens, prays for us, and prophesies through us. HE bears witness to The Truth, brings joy, freedom, helps us to obey, and HE calls for Jesus’ return. HE transforms us, lives in us, frees us, renews us, and produces fruit in us. He gives gifts, leads us, convicts us, sanctifies us, and empowers us. HE unites us, seals us, gives us access to The Father, HE enables us to wait, HE brings The Word to our remembrance, HE cast out demons.

HE is indeed a gift from on high, and every day we need a fresh anointing from HIM. We do well to wait in HIS presence and allow HIM to have HIS way for HE is exceedingly abundantly above and beyond anything we could ask for, think or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). HE gives us power to fulfill our destiny. How quickly we recognize HIS absence is probably a fairly good test as to how well acquainted we are with HIM. When HE is un grieved in us, we will manifest HIS personality defined in Galatians 5:22-23 as Fruit of The Holy Spirit. Knowing God’s ways comes from developing an ever increasing sensitivity to HIS Spirit.

For the ones IN Christ we have a surpassing invitation every day, and not just upon initial invite. Holy Spirit desires to fill us up a fresh an anew daily to be salt and light to a lost, hurting, dying, world. Jesus is our Supreme Example, “And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with The Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with HIM,” Acts 10:38.
