Choose Life

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days,”
Deuteronomy 30:19-20.

There is much to glean from these powerful verses that The LORD was conveying to His servant Moses. The LORD’s Heart is always about drawing people into a place to know Truth, so right decisions can be made. All through man’s history we can draw conclusion that man has failed in his attempt to be independent of God. The LORD is our LIFE! We cannot live independent of Him, we must be totally dependent  upon Him. He is our DNA: “the fundamental and distinctive characteristics of someone or something and regarded as unchangeable.” We cannot change who we are, we are made in “His Image,” (Gen. 1:26). Any choice that we make that moves us away from this Truth causes consequences that are un-healthy. We can all see and read about dysfunctional man in  the newspaper and on the television.  God’s  Solution to the ills of man as always been found in His Word, the Man, Christ Jesus. “ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men,” Jn. 1:1-4.

There is no denying that the LORD is relentless in His pursuit of taking ownership of His highest creative order. Man’s response should be in humility and to consider his ways. After self-evaluation man should reach a conclusion. It should be like David in Psalms 8:3-6, “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,  What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.”

David was a man after God’s heart. We can see from David's perspective he had revelation of mans high order in which he was to conduct himself on earth. King David knew that he was a man who was given authority by God. He knew that his promotion from a shepherd boy to a king was because of encountering God in worship. His path from obscurity to notoriety took place out of David’s heart crying out to God. A secret place of worship was established between him and the Shepherd of his soul. It was the Spirit of God that attracted David into a place of getting alone with The LORD. It was in these quite times with the Lord that he expressed his relationship with his God by writing about it in the Psalms. The Holy Spirit would lead him into the secret place where boldness transformed him into a champion for God. We read all about David’s exploits in the Word of God. But David’s life story is an invitation for us all to encounter the One who gives life.

Life is a matter of choice. The LORD in His love for humanity gave us the ability to choose. It would be out of character for God to create a being as a robot with no ability to make choices. He simply says in Deuteronomy verse 19, I have set before you today life and death, blessings and cursing's, you choose which one. In our design the Creator gave us a spirit. “The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the inner depths of his heart” (Prov. 20:27). With our spirit man we can communicate and worship God who is Spirit. “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" John 4:24). In this wonderful design we can be lit as a lamp for the LORD. This will happen when we choose Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior. He becomes our Light in life ( Jn. 1:4). It is an atrocity for people who has God’s copyright (Gen. 1:26) on their lives to be slaves to satan. In 2 Corinthians 4:4 the Apostle Paul states that peoples minds have been blinded. (“whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them,” 2 Corinthians 4:4)

In satan’s scheme to destroy man he simply gets man to be carnal instead of spiritual. “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God,” Rom. 8:5-8. The world we live in is under the control of a demonic influence. The influence is to attract our flesh to the things of the world, so we will never experience God. This is seduction. When we are seduced we are aroused to sin. It is in this environment where flesh is gratified, that we enjoy it so much that an economy is created to pamper the flesh. In this economy we earn wages, which is death! (Rom. 6:23) But  the LORD is gracious. He states in Romans 5:20b, “But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” Simply the LORD is saying “I have made a way for you to experience my Grace. It is more powerful than sin. I am raising up in this generation a people with an anointing to influence any heart that desires Light more than darkness. The choice will be yours. I recommend you choose MY LIFE!”
