SHILOH MESSENGER - October 2010

Utterly Blessed & Amazed

"Look among the nations and watch-- Be utterly astounded! For I will work a work in your days Which you would not believe, though it were told you” (Habakkuk 1:5 ).
Hello again, it’s been quite some time since I have had the opportunity to write to you. I am David Walls, an Associate Pastor and resident Teacher of Theology here at Shiloh. I have been asked to give you a testimony of what The Lord Jesus has done in my life as well as how this ministry has changed the lives of me and my wife Laura. There is not enough room to even get close to it all, but please allow me to share just a little.

I have been at Shiloh for almost ten years. I came to Shiloh in 2001. To be very honest with you, I did not want to come at all. Laura and I have been involved in some type of ministry since 1987. We have had the pleasure of working for Central Christian University and Bible College; we had helped several Pastors’ set up Bible schools in their Churches as well as Pastor ourselves. However in the summer of 2001 a terrible automobile accident changed my life. In that accident my mother was killed. I felt my negligence was totally irrevocable and the horror of that irresponsibility was more than I could bear. I felt both unforgivable and totally guilty and most of all completely unworthy to minister ever again. I did have a wonderful support from friends and most especially my family. I remember that my Pastor came to me encouraging me in the Lord by reading the Word of God and praying over me. I have never forgotten that. However, I believe the most terrifying thing of all was I could not hear the voice of The Holy Spirit.

After a month of solitude and grief, I awoke one morning and could hear Him saying, “Good Morning”. I asked, “Where have You been”? He said, “I was always here, but you could not hear Me for the grief.” I then began to get back on a road of mental and spiritual recovery. Three months later, while working a city wide benefit for my church, I saw Pastor Rocky and Debbie walk past. I have known Pastor Rocky and his family for much of my life and came out to say hello. We greeted and he and Sister Debbie went into the meeting. Back at my work, The Holy Spirit told me to go and teach at Shiloh. I refused. He told me a third time, so I told Him that if they walked in a certain place I would obey. Do not ever challenge Him, he always wins! Well, I thought I would just have to teach one hour. An hour turned into a day and a day turned into ten years. At one point I told the Holy Spirit that this was useless. They were not learning. They did not care. I was wasting my time and that I thought I would do better back in the colleges. He told me NO. It was not my job to change them. It was my job to PLANT THE SEED OF THE WORD OF GOD in them. He and Pastor Rocky would do the rest. I have never been the same since the accident, nor have I been the same since I came to Shiloh. I must tell you I have been to three Bible Colleges, completed Masters Work and all the necessary work for a Doctorate, written fourteen commentaries, numerous papers and working on two books, but never have I ever experienced so much revelation and knowledge from the Holy Spirit since I have been at Shiloh. It seems the more I give out, the more He gives me to give out. It’s almost never ending. I do not have the time or the space to even begin. But in closing I would like to say, I have seen some of the greatest miracles in my life, by watching Jesus change the lives of these men. I have actually witnessed brain cells grow. You may laugh, but I can not explain it any other way. When they get to Shiloh, drugs and sin had destroyed their mind and spirit and right before my eyes I see them restored. I have seen them leave here; go to Bible College and in one semester on the Deans’ list. We have seen them become ordained ministers, missionaries, and fine men of God. I must say at sixty four years of age, I am utterly blessed & amazed.
